Internet telephony services like Skype have challenged traditional telephone networks, but cellular networks persist due to their seamless handoffs which IP solutions lack. Wi-Fi's higher capacity at lower costs is limited by poor handoff support due to short ranges. This invention proposes a single-hop layer-3 ad hoc network for mobile nodes without traditional handoffs, utilizing existing Wi-Fi infrastructure for cell communication. It's particularly relevant for future 6G networks that face handoff issues due to smaller cell sizes. The technology could revolutionize Wi-Fi IP telephony and network infrastructure, offering high-speed mobile communication at reduced costs.
