Uniform Deposition on Nanofibres at Industrial Scale
Technology for Industrial Scale Production of Nanofibres
Tags: IIT Delhi, India, Science & Exploration, Industrial Automation & Manufacturing
Researchers at IIT Delhi have developed a superior technology for the industrial-scale production of nanofibres, overcoming challenges faced by existing commercial technologies. Nanofibres, which are 1/1000th the diameter of cotton fibers, have applications in industrial filters, tissue engineering scaffolds, electronic sensors, and protective devices. The IIT Delhi team, led by Prof. Ashwini Agrawal and Prof. Manjeet Jassal, created a scalable electrospinning prototype that ensures uniform deposition and high production rates. This technology has been validated in an industrial setup and granted patents in India, the UK, and the USA. Applications include high-efficiency fuel and oil nanofibre filters and meeting stricter pollution standards.
