Tilted Rotor Quadcopter for Stable, High-Payload Flights
Anti Air Column Interaction Mounting for Multi-rotor Aerial Vehicles
Tags: IIT Madras, India, Transportation & Automotive, Agriculture & Food
IIT Madras has developed an innovative quadcopter design featuring tilted rotor axes and modular motor mounts to reduce air column interaction and enhance stability. The design allows for larger propellers, boosting payload capacity without increasing the drone's footprint, and minimizes vibration to 0.1 g or less for improved flight performance. Applications include aerial photography, agricultural monitoring, and crop management. The system’s modularity supports configurations with four, six, or eight longitudinal members, offering flexibility for aerospace, defense, and e-commerce industries. The technology is protected by a granted patent (IN 509585), emphasizing its advanced engineering and potential for commercialization.
