Tags: IIT Bombay, India, Energy & Environment, Industrial Automation & Manufacturing
This technology focuses on an efficient, sustainable, and scalable solution for hydrogen production directly from water using solar irradiation, addressing the need for carbon-neutral energy infrastructure. The proposed system integrates a hydrogen gas generator with a fuel cell, enabling regulated electricity production in neutral water under practical conditions without hazardous chemicals. Applications include environmentally friendly power generation with water as the only by-product, providing a green alternative to fossil fuels. The prototype, validated at the proof-of-concept stage in a laboratory environment, promises economical operation by utilizing earth-abundant catalysts and recycling water in the process. Developed collaboratively by experts in chemistry and earth sciences, the technology targets clean energy and renewable sectors.
