The Rural Development Center (RDC) at IITH has developed a sensor-based monitoring system to improve water quality and fish productivity in fish farms across 35 villages near Sangareddy, in collaboration with Suzuki Motor Corporation and other partners. The system uses sensor nodes to measure parameters such as temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, and TDS, transmitting data via AWS cloud services to a web application for real-time monitoring and action. Applications include reducing fish mortality, enhancing fish health, and boosting profitability for rural fish farmers. Two Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) have been developed, with the latest iteration featuring 3D-printed waterproof casing, high-accuracy sensors, and robust cloud integration. This innovation supports rural livelihoods by enabling sustainable aquaculture practices through actionable insights and advanced technology.
