This technology introduces a novel method for video quality determination, focusing on 3D and VR content by analyzing synthesized video files against reference ones to assess flicker distortion. It provides an improved measure of visual quality by visualizing temporal features and employing a temporal layer picture to represent long-term aspects of video content. This method simplifies the process by eliminating the need for motion estimation, making it particularly suitable for enhancing the quality of 3D TV, free-viewpoint TV, and 6 Degrees of Freedom omnidirectional videos.
