CSIR-Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research Institute [CSIR-CSMCRI]: This invention introduces a compound (Formula-I) designed to detect arsenic levels in water with high sensitivity and specificity. The compound acts as a fluorescent sensor with a near-infrared emission turn-on response, allowing for rapid and precise detection of sodium arsenite (NaAsO2) in water samples. It offers the advantages of a low detection limit, simple operation, and suitability for onsite testing. The compound is prepared using (E)-5,5'-(1,2-diphenylethene-1,2-diyl)bis(2-hydroxybenzaldehyde) in the presence of aniline and acetic acid. Applications include water quality monitoring and environmental safety.
