Portable Room Temperature Ammonia Sensor
Tags: Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, India, Industrial Automation & Manufacturing, Construction & Smart Cities
The Portable Room Temperature Ammonia Sensor uses a nanocrystalline SnO2 thin film to detect ammonia (NH3) with high sensitivity and selectivity, even in the presence of other reducing gases. The sensor operates at room temperature, addressing the drawbacks of high-temperature sensors, such as reduced lifespan and safety concerns in explosive environments. Its applications include heavy water plants, fertilizer plants, and pollution monitoring agencies. The sensor has a response time of 40 seconds and maintains its sensitivity for over a year. It is housed in a water- and light-proof casing, ensuring durability in various industrial settings.
