Radiation-Reducing Jig for Precise S2AI Screw Insertion
A Novel Jig to Assist Accurate Insertion of S2AI Screw
Tags: The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, Healthcare & Lifesciences
This novel jig assists in the precise insertion of S2-Alar-Iliac (S2AI) screws, crucial for spinal and pelvic fixation surgeries. It reduces radiation exposure during fluoroscopy, benefiting both patients and surgeons, and achieves outcomes comparable to robotic navigation with minimal training. The device is simple, versatile, and compatible with various operating room setups. Applications include spinal and pelvic fixation surgeries requiring iliolumbar stabilization. A validation study using cadavers has been completed, and patent applications are in the national phase in the US, CN, and EP.
