Researchers at IIT Delhi's Centre for Biomedical Engineering have developed a new drug delivery platform using Red Blood Cell (RBC) membranes for chemotherapy. This technology leverages the natural long-circulating properties of RBCs to prolong drug circulation and minimize immune system recognition. Applications include personalized chemotherapy with reduced side effects, as the platform can load multiple drugs and achieve higher tumor cell accumulation. The approach has been validated in animal studies, showing efficacy and safety over synthetic nanoparticles.
