Platinum Complexes for Anti-Cancer Treatment
Tags: The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, Healthcare & Lifesciences
This technology introduces luminescent platinum (II) complexes with therapeutic activity and the ability to monitor cancer progression in real-time. These complexes demonstrate high cellular uptake, efficient DNA binding, and enhanced cytotoxicity against cisplatin-resistant cancer cell lines, outperforming traditional drugs like cisplatin and oxaliplatin. Applications include anti-cancer therapies with simultaneous visualization of cellular distribution and structural changes. Preclinical studies show significant tumor inhibition with low toxicity in animal models. Protected by a PCT patent, this platform enables innovative drug development for challenging cancer treatments.
