Optimise Health Infra During Pandemic with Simulation Tool
Simulation Tool for Planning Operational Response During a Health Crisis
Tags: IIT Delhi, India, Computing Technology, Healthcare & Lifesciences
Researchers have developed a probabilistic discrete-event simulation tool to plan the operational response of healthcare systems during health crises like COVID-19. This tool models the operations of a multi-tier healthcare network and assesses the capacity of facilities to handle pandemic caseloads, including the need for makeshift care centers. Applications include optimizing healthcare infrastructure response to various outbreaks and evaluating policy changes. The simulation demonstrated that while bed capacity needs enhancement, medical personnel capacity was sufficient. The tool provides quantitative insights for improving public health responses.
