Nanoionics-based Memristor Device for Albumin Detection
Tags: IIT Hyderabad, India, Healthcare & Lifesciences, Science & Exploration
Researchers have developed a nanoionics-based memristor device for the electrical detection of bovine serum albumin (BSA), a model protein structurally similar to human serum albumin. The device utilizes titanium dioxide (TiO₂) and graphene oxide (GO) to achieve high sensitivity, real-time detection, and label-free operation, making it suitable for biomedical applications. It shows excellent sensitivity to low BSA concentrations, durability over 650 cycles, and potential for integration into lab-on-chip devices. The addition of graphene oxide enhances conductivity and detection accuracy, demonstrating an innovative approach to protein sensing. This proof-of-concept device is environmentally friendly, cost-effective, and biocompatible, with ongoing efforts to develop a portable version for efficient protein detection.
