Hong Kong Metropolitan University researchers found that language barriers and financial struggles significantly hinder the quality of life for South Asian older adults in Hong Kong. Cultural values, family obligations, and religious beliefs heavily shape their experiences, affecting access to information and social integration. Many are financially reliant on government allowances or family support, which is often insufficient. NGOs provide vital services, including interpretation, social work, and culturally sensitive health support. This research suggests more governmental support for NGOs and enhanced health education to foster an inclusive environment for these ethnic minority communities.
