Hidden Validators Secure IoT Blockchains
A Blockchain Consensus Method and Device Based on BFT
Tags: The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong, Computing Technology
This innovation enhances blockchain security in IoT by combining reputation/trust-based mechanisms with Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT), using a privacy-preserving scheme to protect against adaptive attackers. By periodically changing validator identities and reputation commitments, it becomes difficult for attackers to target high-reputation validators. The system employs Pedersen commitments for reputation updating and zero-knowledge proofs for leader election, maintaining privacy without compromising on the integrity of the BFT consensus process. It aims to improve throughput, scalability, and security for blockchain systems, particularly beneficial in IoT applications.
