IIT Madras has developed a jack assembly that enables smooth vertical movement for height adjustment of objects in industrial and automotive applications. The system features a first rack assembly, a threaded rod, and L-shaped arms that work together for efficient and controlled lifting. It offers bi-directional adjustment, extended motion range, and retrofit compatibility for existing mechanisms. Applications include car jacks, warehouse forklifts, and scissor lifts requiring reliable height control. The technology has been validated in lab settings and has a granted patent (IN 437237).
