The energy-efficient data aggregation clustering algorithm for wireless sensor networks (WSNs) leverages hybrid particle swarm optimization (HPSO) to enhance energy savings and extend the network’s lifetime. The algorithm, HPSO-ILEACH, selects the optimal cluster head (CH) by factoring in the distance between nodes and their residual energy, reducing energy consumption. This method outperforms existing approaches such as LEACH, ILEACH, and ESO-LEACH, with a 55% improvement in network longevity and a 28% reduction in energy usage. The clustering mechanism minimizes energy disparities among nodes, preventing premature node failures. Applications include improving the efficiency and durability of sensor networks in smart cities, environmental monitoring, and industrial IoT.
