Researchers at IIT Delhi have demonstrated an easy method to synthesize polyarylquinone, a molecule used in pharmaceuticals, optoelectronics, and bio-imaging. Using a Pd (Palladium) catalyst, they achieved the relayed addition of fulvene to quinones, simplifying the synthesis process. Their study shows that polyarylquinones can act as antioxidants and have applications in chemotherapy and optoelectronics. This method could reduce costs and dependence on imported pharmaceuticals. The findings were published in ACS Catalysis.
