CSIR-Advance Material and Process Research Institute [CSIR-AMPRI]: This technology describes a bidirectional, linear, and binary segmented antagonistic servomechanism-based shape memory alloy (SMA) actuator. It features closely spaced part-modules with SMA elements arranged in "straight" and "cross" configurations, with the cross configuration offering 40% more compactness. The actuator is designed for applications requiring precise linear and angular displacement, such as in 3D printer filament extruder heads, robotics, prosthetics, and latching systems. The unique "S-type" and "flipped F-type" configurations enhance its performance in micro-positioning and bi-stable control scenarios.
