This technology involves the application of androgen-metabolizing lactic acid bacteria for reducing high circulating androgen levels, addressing conditions like androgenetic alopecia, benign prostatic hypertrophy, prostate cancer in men, and polycystic ovary syndrome in women. It utilizes Thauera sp. strain GDN1, shown to reduce serum androgen levels by about 50% in administered male mice, promoting hair regrowth by lowering dihydrotestosterone levels. The lactic acid bacteria strains are approved food additives by Taiwan FDA, with no competing products having similar androgen-metabolizing activity identified. The innovation has applied for a US provisional patent and received the National Innovation award.
