Researchers have developed a lateral flow assay-based point-of-care device using innovative paper shunt technology for affordable and accessible HbA1c testing. The device minimizes antibody use, reducing costs while maintaining accuracy. Applications include diabetes management for patients who require regular blood sugar monitoring. The prototype has been developed and successfully tested in a small-scale clinical study with blood samples. The device is priced at INR 2500 for the meter and INR 100 per strip, making it accessible to low-income groups.
