ThermCon-P - Thermal Consolidometer With Pore-Pressure Profiling
Tags: IIT Bombay, India, Construction & Smart Cities, Science & Exploration
ThermCon-P is a novel thermal consolidometer with pore-pressure profiling designed to assess soil behavior under elevated temperatures and mechanical stresses. It accurately measures thermo-mechanically induced consolidation, pore-water pressure, and suction in soils, offering critical data for designing foundations for geothermal, nuclear waste disposal, pipelines, and other temperature-sensitive infrastructures. The technology has been calibrated with promising preliminary results. Applications include geotechnical analysis for underground utilities and advanced construction projects. This innovation enhances the precision of soil behavior modeling under thermo-mechanical conditions, aiding sustainable infrastructure development.
