Adiponectin Glycopeptides Synthesis and its Potential for Metabolic Diseases
Tags: The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, Healthcare & Lifesciences
This innovation introduces a novel method to synthesize glycosylated adiponectin glycopeptides (hAdn-WM6877) that mimic the pharmacological functions of adiponectin. The synthesized peptide exhibits insulin-sensitizing, anti-inflammatory, and cardioprotective properties, addressing challenges in producing biologically active adiponectin. In vitro and in vivo studies confirm its potential to treat metabolic diseases, including obesity, diabetes, and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). The technology offers a cost-effective and efficient production method, opening new avenues for therapeutic applications. Protected under PCT Application No. PCT/IB2021/053309, it holds promise for addressing rising global metabolic health challenges.
